Waterfront Wedding on the Chesapeake Bay

YAY. Krystal and Greg are MARRIED! CHEERS TO THE NEALS! I’m seriously so excited for them. This Celebrations at the Bay wedding was amazing and heartwarming and fulfilling in so many ways.

First of all, let’s take it back. Krystal and I had been communicating about their wedding for well over a year before their glorious day earlier this month. They are just my kind of people – born to be out on the water, boats and jetskis are their favorite method of transportation, they have a big lug of a dog named Beau. When I finally was able to meet them for their engagement session – it was so wonderful.

As their Celebrations at the Bay wedding day got closer, I learned more and more about their love and life, which is tremendously helpful. I loved how relaxed they were about planning the wedding – and their easy-going nature made the day go incredibly smoothly!

They kept everything quite intimate. As Krystal put it – most of their guests were people they had spent time with at least in the last month, if not the last week. I liked that. Everyone seemed so incredibly happy that these two were finally getting hitched; it was as if they were all already one big happy family, they just needed to make it official.

Some special details and moments that I loved about their day:

• The whole nautical, on the water thing – you guys know I love that! Bay weddings make my heart sing.
• Their first dance! It was so simple and beautiful and they were both singing along.
• This funny game their DJ made them play – the Shoe-lywed game. They took their shoes off and swapped one. Then the DJ would ask them a question like “who said I love you first” and “who farted in front of the other first” and they had to lift the shoe corresponding to who they think fit the thing!
• The day in general – like weather-wise it was perfect, the venue and catering team were awesome, their guests were super nice, they are great for one another. It was just a great day.

The one extra special moment that got to me was Krystal’s dad’s speech. Krystal is an ASL interpreter, and her father speaks in ASL. He signed his speech while another interpreter spoke it aloud. Everything her father brought up in his speech was incredibly touching and at the end he signed something along the lines of “now please everyone get up and shower the couple with love” and in silence, the guests all stood up and did the “I love you” sign towards Krystal and Greg. I think the fact that the room was silent gave me the “whoa this is incredibly moving” goosebumps. It was SO beautiful and heartwarming.
