DC Monuments Engagement SessionGrowing up in Maryland, I visited the DC monuments regularly. Living in DC now, I see the monuments almost daily. You know how when something is so normal you sometimes take them for granted? Being a photographer and having the opportunity to photograph DC monuments engagement sessions makes me appreciate how lucky I am to have these gorgeous works of history and architecture in my backyard.
When Katie & Colin first booked me, we started planning their engagement session for the fall. Fall in DC is beautiful, but this year it has been quite weird and hot and the leaves are all confused. We picked a date and were just hopeful it’d be beautiful. Then, about a month before the session, I was photographing Colin’s brother’s wedding and Katie told me she wanted to have a DC monuments engagement session. I was like OKAY let’s do it!
Sidebar to this whole post: I’ve known Colin since I was born and I first met Katie probably at some family party or hockey game activity. They are one of the funniest couples I know and every time I see them, it’s always a nice reminder that they’re awesome.
Back to their engagement session! We started at the crack of dawn at the Jefferson Memorial, which is my favorite, and we made our way to the Lincoln to hang out with Abe (and spectacular views of the Washington Monument and Reflecting Pond. They cute… enjoy the photos!
