In early 2020, Kelly, Chris, and I planned their engagement session for the Library of Congress. Thennnnn COVID hit and we weren’t allowed in the Library of Congress and I wasn’t allowed to do sessions. As the situation continued, we finally nailed down a date in June 2020 and figured we’d do their session outdoors. I recommended McCrillis Gardens in Bethesda for their engagement portraits.
AND IT WAS MAGICAL.
So first, this was my first session shooting with a mask on. What I had no realized was that masks make your camera fog up, similarly to the issue folks have with their glasses. However, Kelly and Chris were incredibly patient with me as I continually whipped my camera off.
And secondly, these two really made all the waiting to do their session worth it. They were so much fun and so sweet and so lovely together. Plus, they looked bomb AF. And actually, calling Chris out on this, but Kelly shared one of the photos on Instagram and had actual comments from friends trolling that Chris was wearing something other than basketball shorts.
Anyways… we couldn’t have had a more fun engagement session just bopping around McCrillis Garden on such a beautiful June day. They laughed, told each other joke, Chris kept telling Kelly how beautiful she looked, I’m obsessed with them… ya know, all wonderful things!
These two had been planning to get married in November, however, with the COVID stuff… they replanned their entire wedding incredibly quickly and held a very intimate wedding at this very spot (McCrillis Gardens) in September! Blog post on that coming soon!
