U.S. Naval Academy Engagement Photos in Annapolis, Maryland
I’m obsessed with these two. Yes, I know, I say that about all of my couples because they’re all amazing, but these two are so fun. One of my very close friends (Allie) who I have known my entire life is BFFs with Cara. Allie’s parents (Pam & Jim) have known my parents since before any of their kids were born (Pam & my mom went to college together!) and they sponsor midshipmen, so they sponsored Carrington. So I had heard about Cara and Carrington before but they didn’t live nearby so I had never met them or anything. Then Carrington proposed and Cara reached out to me about doing photos for their wedding. They were in San Diego at the time so we FaceTimed while she was in her classroom and I just adored her and was so thrilled that we got connected!
So as we were planning their engagement session, we put a date on the calendar in advance because they knew it was a weekend they’d be traveling to MD! Easy. The week beforehand, the sh!t absolutely hit the fan. The Naval Academy changed some rules so I didn’t know if we’d be allowed to shoot there AND the weather said it was going to absolutely down pour… like a 100% chance of rain.
Everything that we had any control over was sorted out and we were all prepping for a VERY VERY wet and rainy engagement session. Cute umbrellas were at the ready, my umbrella hat (yep, no joke) was packed in my bag, my equipment bag had it’s rain covering on…
And then as I am driving to Annapolis, the rain stopped. AND WE HAD THE MOST FUN ENGAGEMENT SESSION EVER!
Not only getting to photograph these two gorgeous people – but getting to simply chat with them and learn more about them was so great. And they had a little posse – Pam, Allie, and Benji (a friend of Cara’s) came to cheer them on! 🙂
Shout out to Cara’s mom, too, because she sent me a note that was the sweetest thing ever.
