Crabby Engagement Session | Jane & Brian

October 30, 2017

What a crabby engagement session this was! Not even making a play on words here my friends. This was definitely a first for me, and absolutely so much fun. Jane and Brian originally were planning to have their engagement session in the heart of a town that they love so much, Bethesda, MD. Upon further inspection, they decided they wanted something a tad more private. Jane reached out with the wonderful idea to have their session on their rooftop, maybe have Brian grill something, buy a dozen crabs, grab a couple of beers, and eat.

When someone asks you if you want to photograph them eating crabs, you always say yes. During their session I got to know the two of them a bit more, smell old bay, and enjoy a beautiful night on a rooftop! Hilariously, Jane did tell me that she used to not like crabs. And here we are, doing their engagement shoot while they’re eating some!

It’s a little funny, when Jane first followed me on Instagram, I really thought she was someone I knew (or had met before), so I followed her back. I would see her posts – about Nat’s games and the beach and art exhibits and DC, and I was seriously stressing because I was like ~I have to know her from somewhere but I can’t remember where~ Turns out, we didn’t know each other, but we grew up just a few miles apart, and we both attended the same uni (her for undergrad, me for grad school). Brian also grew up in the area and spent a lot of time at the beach!

And one more… because of course I asked them to feed each other. You know it’s love when someone gives you crab they’ve picked. 🙂
