A little while back I got an inquiry from this couple who seemed way cool to me. They’re getting married at a vineyard, they’re Leon Bridges fans, they’ve got a dog named Finnigan, they like Nutella waffles. Ya know, cool things. Add the fact that they got engaged literally moments after falling through the sky attached to parachutes and I was like… these people are super awesome.
We got to planning their engagement session and their biggest request was that Finn be a part of it. It’s funny – people always ask me if having their dog for the session is allowed and I try to play it smooth and be like “yeah of course bring your dog make sure someone can join to hang out with him when he’s not in the images” but in my head I’m like “YAY PUPPY DOG PHOTOGRAPHY PEOPLE IN LOVE DOG PUP PHOTOS HOORAY I GET TO PET A DOG!” I might have a slight problem? Whatever.
Anyways, we were trying to figure out a good location and we were going through parks and trails and such when Lauren asked if we could shoot at her parents house/where she grew up! I was SO game for this idea. I even mentioned to her that I’ve been dying to do a session at my parents house because it’s just so beautiful in the woods back there, but that I’d feel super creepy asking someone if they’d meet me at my parents private residence.
Day of the session comes and I was so excited to meet Lauren and Steven (and Finnigan, too, obviously). Not only did her parents home provide us AMAZING scenery, but the light was so insanely perfect! Shoutout to her mom because the house smelled so incredibly delightful – still waiting for the day I come home to my house and my brother is making sweet potato fries and the house smells like cinnamon.
