Dewey Beach Family Session

Some of the most beautiful light I’ve ever seen at the beach came right after a storm.

This Dewey Beach family session is proof. We had rain rolling through earlier in the day, and honestly? I was watching the radar with fingers crossed. But the clouds broke just in time and what came next was that rare, washed-clean golden light that only shows up after a summer storm. Soft, glowy, and absolutely everywhere.

This crew was such a joy. Mom and dad came out with their little boy, who was full of personality from the very first frame, along with her brother and their parents rounding out the whole family. There’s something about multigenerational beach sessions that just gets me every time. The way grandparents look at their grandkids. The way siblings fall right back into their rhythm together. All of it.

The little guy was the star of the show. Blue outfit, big personality, and absolutely zero interest in standing still, which made for the best candid moments of the whole session. His mama could not stop squeezing him, and honestly, same.

We worked up and down the beach as the post-storm light shifted and softened. The wet sand reflected everything beautifully, and the sky stayed dramatic in the best way, all pale blues and warm whites. The whole family was so relaxed and easy to work with, and it showed in every single frame.

Dewey Beach doesn’t always get the spotlight that Bethany or Rehoboth do, but sessions like this remind me how stunning it is. The wide open shoreline, the beach houses tucked in behind the dunes, that incredible light, it has its own magic.
