Thomas Jefferson Memorial Engagement Session, Washington, DC

How stinking cute are these two? I met up with Amy and Zach on the steps of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial (my favorite memorial!) for their engagement session. We had so much fun!

Years ago, Amy and I met at a Taylor Swift concert (the 1989 tour for those who are curious) but I had never met Zach. While discussing wedding things, photography packages, and such, Amy told me that Zach is her favorite person. Safe to say I was very excited to meet him and to see her again!

Let me tell you a little about them. They were friends for years before they were ever romantically involved. They went to college together at Catholic University and will be getting married there! They’re both DC transplants and they wanted to keep a DC theme going for their whole wedding since so many people will be coming in from out of town. Hence, an engagement session on the National Mall – doesn’t get more classic DC than that! They are both teachers and thus have hearts of gold.

Zach did an incredible job when it came time to propose. He enlisted the help of some friends to “break in” to their apartment while they were at a morning SoulCycle class. Their friends came in and decorated with candles and flowers, placed the engagement ring on the counter, and played Taylor Swift music through the speakers. When she opened the door once they got back from their class, he got down on one knee and she was COMPLETELY surprised. HOW friggen cute?!
