A Waterfront Bay Engagement Session | Krystal & Greg

Back in October, I got to meet and photograph Krystal and Greg for their engagement session. These two had wanted a summery, sunshiney, gorgeous day for their engagement session as they are total water fiends… and in late October, that is what they got. Do you remember in October when it was like 80 degrees and sunny the entire week? We got so lucky with the weather.

Anywhoooo, these two took me for a ride… literally. They wanted their session to truly depict them and in order to do that, their dog (Monster/Beau), their boat, and their jetskis were required!

I was going to write my own little write up about their story, but in one of my initial emails with Krystal, she wrote it best!

The Engagement Story

“Greg pulled off the best surprise ever… As we were getting ready to take our first big vacation together to Key West, Florida, Greg had recently gotten paid on a big job and had some “extra” cash. A few days before we left for our trip, Greg and I were standing in the kitchen and I was telling him I knew exactly what he could spend his money on – a ring! He totally played it off saying that there was no way that he would buy me a ring. Little did I know, he had already bought me one and was planning on proposing while we were in Florida.

A few days into our vacation in the Keys, we decided to go snorkeling. After spending an awesome day out on the water – even getting to see this awesome sea turtle swimming right by us – Greg suggested that we take our boat out with our dog, Beau, to catch the sunset since we had gotten back right in time to do that. I thought it was an awesome idea – I totally love sunsets and we haven’t had a chance to take the dog out with us anywhere yet. We were in Florida with one of really close friends and I kept saying that he should come out with us. Greg insisted that with me, him and Beau on the boat, there wouldn’t be enough space. I felt bad leaving our friend behind but I knew that Beau is kinda crazy on the boat so it did make sense.

We drove the boat out of the canal we were staying on and into the open water to watch the sunset. We decided to bring along a few drinks to enjoy while watching the sunset and once we stopped, Greg asked me to get our drinks out of the cooler. As I sat back down on the seat next to Greg, I looked down at the center console and saw a white ring box just sitting there. I was like “what is that?!” Greg was like “what do you think it is?” I told him I had no idea but I got that excited feeling in my stomach… Greg opened the box and inside was the most amazing diamond ring, I couldn’t believe it. He asked me if I would marry him and I said YES!!!! But I was in such shock that I kept asking Greg ‘Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with me?!’ I couldn’t believe it… we were in such a beautiful place together, with our “fur son” and I had no idea he was going to propose!

It was the best moment ever – he did so well with pulling off the best surprise in the most amazing location. Of course, our friend was the first one to find out when we got back from our boat ride, but I was SO excited that I had to FaceTime my mom right away. For the first time in my life, my mom was speechless! It was an amazing feeling.

Later that night – after we went out in the Keys to celebrate – Greg told me more about my gorgeous ring. It was the most amazing moment when he told me that the center diamond is the diamond from his mom’s engagement ring. Although I never knew Greg’s mom, I feel very special wearing her diamond and bringing her love into our future.”

Doesn’t that just warm your heart!?

I loved that story and it drew me in to them and I’m so excited to be a part of their wedding day (IN LESS THAN ONE MONTH)!
